Advancing Community Unity and prosperity

Welcome to the official website of the African Communities of Manitoba Inc. (ACOMI). Established as a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, ACOMI is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, engaged, and sustainable African Canadian presence across Manitoba. Our mission is rooted in the promotion of a culturally rich and economically prosperous, socially inclusive society, where the diverse voices and contributions of individuals of African heritage are celebrated and valued.

Our Vision

At ACOMI, we envision a Manitoba where members of the African community thrive, empowered by their cultural heritage and united in their pursuit of common goals. We strive for a future where unity, friendship, brotherhood, and sisterhood flourish among people of African descent in Manitoba, fostering a sense of belonging and collective strength.

Our Commitment

Our commitment is deeply ingrained in the principles of unity, understanding, and service to our community. We aim to promote mutual understanding between individuals of African heritage and Canadians of diverse backgrounds, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and cooperation.

ACOMI is dedicated to ensuring that all members of the African community have access to essential goods and services necessary to address issues such as poverty, homelessness, education, health, nutrition, and social exclusion, delivered in a culturally appropriate manner.

Our Mission

Preserving Cultural Heritage

Central to our mission is the preservation of our common cultural heritage, while also acknowledging and respecting the unique identities within our community. We recognize the richness and diversity of our backgrounds, including the various languages spoken by our membership, and we celebrate these differences as sources of strength and resilience.
